Blank / Erase Rewritable Disc
Erase CD-RW, DVD±RW, DVD-RAM, or BD-RE media before rewriting.
Quick Blank
Erases the Table of Contents (TOC) and PMA only. The disc becomes writable again in seconds, but the old data remains on the disc (not readable without special tools).
Best for: Quickly reusing a rewritable disc when you don’t need to wipe data.
Full Blank
Writes zeros to the entire disc surface. Completely wipes all data. Can take 15–60+ minutes depending on disc type and speed.
Best for: Securely wiping a disc before disposal, or troubleshooting disc issues.
Compatible Media
- CD-RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, BD-RE, HD DVD-RW
Note: BD-R and DVD±R are write-once media — they can be formatted but not erased.
Format Disc
Format DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, BD-R, BD-RE, or HD DVD-RW media. Some media types require formatting before first use.
Quick Format
Prepares the disc for use without full surface certification. Fast, suitable for most use cases.
Full Format
Performs full surface certification — writes test patterns to verify every sector. Slower but ensures disc integrity.
Compatible Media
- DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, BD-R (SRM), BD-RE, HD DVD-RW
